insulation help
Hey guys, I need some help. I recently purchased a portable building to use as a hunting camp. It will be delivered to my hunting lease in the Hazlehurst Ms. area, about 30 miles south of Jackson in the next week or two. I'd like to have it spray insulated, but I can't find anyone willing to do the job. I have been in contact with the only two leads I could find. One doesn't do small jobs, and the other has too much work to be willing to go to Mississippi for a job. My building is 12 x 32, and will be raised 2 & 1/2 cinder blocks off the ground. I'm hoping to find someone willing to do this as a side job. I work during the week, so I can only be there on a weekend, but of course I'm willing to do the driving and take care of all meals and cost associated with an out of town job. I'm told this is small job, and the driving will probably take longer than the actual job. If you do this kinda work, or know someone who might be willing to help a fellow sportsman out, please contact me @ 504-737-0646, or email me @ tjpcasey@yahoo.com
Thanks in advance....Tim
BERGARA BARRELS
Does anyone have first hand knowledge of replacement barrels for T/C Encores made by a company names Bergara?
I see both cabela's and Eabco are are selling them. If the quality is there, the price is attractive.
interactive map programs
I have heard there are programs from which you can download an aerial map of a given location, hunting lease in this instance, and then enter your gps locations of stands, bottoms, etc., even map out trail to create a user friendly map. Does anyone know of sites that are able to accomplish this, and maybe recommend one that is reliable and user friendly?
Thanks
Tim
tree sling deer stand
I few years back I saw a product advertised that was a full harness/sling seat to be used as a deer stand. After climbing a tree with the use of climbing sticks or screw steps, you would attach the sling to the tree and lean back into a sitting position while using the upper rungs of the climbing steps to keep you positioned where you wanted to be. This allowed you a 360 degree shooting radius by either leaning out or "walking" yourself around the tree for a shot if necessary. It didn't seem like it would be the most comfortable stand, but not a bad idea. I have been trying to find this product on the net, but can't seem to find it. There is a similar product listed in the LSM classifieds currently, but is a little different in that the seat is supported by a set of forks that hold you away from the tree. Although it seems this would make it more comfortable to sit in, it also seems it would restrict you from being able to move around the tree for a shot at a deer approaching from your back side. Does anyone know where I can find info on the original sling stand, or does anyone use the product listed in the classifieds?? I'd like to know the pros and cons of this stand.http://www.louisianasportsman.com/classifieds.php?sec=classifieds&act=full&adID=44891#pictures93863

eotech
Anyone using an Eotech sight for handgun hunting? I have heard they are excellent for quick target aquision, but what about distance? I have been told by some that past 20 yards the dot washes out the target too much for good shot placement, and by others that it's the best handgun sight out there. I don't know anyone who has personal experience, any of you have good info from hands on use?
HANDGUN HUNTING
I've been toying with the idea of purchasing a handgun to deer hunt with. I really like the idea of a revolver and the look of the Ruger Blackhawks, but since I already own an Encore with a 50 cal barrel, I've decided to convert it to a pistol and shoot it a bit before dropping the big bucks on a Ruger. Any of you Encore owners have a pistol barrel you no longer use?? I'm not stuck on any one caliber, I'm open to whatever is available to get me started. Thanks in advance!
HANDGUN HUNTING FOR DEER
Hey guys. I have seen a few posts here lately about handgun hunting. I see lots of interest in the .44 mag, some mention of the .41 mag,.480 and .460, and a few rifle calibers for the encores. How about the .357, it seems to be a pretty flat shooter, a bit lighter on recoil, and I would think more than enough gun for whitetails. Why does it seem to be ignored??
Capt. Eric Dumas
I took a trip with a friend and my son this morning with Capt. Eric Dumas. Conditions were rough, with south west winds picking up as the day progressed, and no shortage of boats out today. I can't say enough about our guide Eric! If you have ever shared a boat with Eric, you know what I mean when I say he is truely commited to putting his customers on fish! We ran south, north, and south again, burning fuel was never an issue.....he was determined to put us on fish at all cost! His efforts paid off, we picked up a few fish here and there, and caught more than most of the anglers we spoke to. We ended the day around 3pm, when just about all the other boats had given up hours before, Capt. Eric was willing to stay and see what the evening bite might bring us!! Due to family obligations we had to decline, but what a generous offer!! I had never met Eric before today, but after just a short time I felt I had know him for years. We had a great time, caught a nice mess of specks and one flounder, and picked up some great fishing tips from one of the best in the business! Thanks for a Great trip Eric, the fish were only a bonus!
information needed
I have a 17'x 50" Tim's flat w/ a 23hp longtail Go-Devil that runs around 18 mph. I no longer duck hunt, and am going to start fishing again. I want more speed, but still want the low water advantages of a mud motor for rabbit hunting, bow fishing, frogging, etc. I'm told that stepping up to a surface drive is the answer to my problem. My question is for the guys who know surface drives, what hp would I need to get speeds of around 25-30mph from my boat with a moderate load, say two guys and an ice chest. I'm not real concerned with reverse, and I know there are quite a few companies selling surface drives, is any one brand standing out in the crowd??? Any information is appreciated.
Thanks
question for the Encore / G2 Contender hunters
Can someone tell me the actual difference between the G2 contender and the Encore. I see both can be used as pistol, rifle, or muzzleloader. Is one better than the other, are barrels and accessories more readily available for one than the other? It seems the barrels may be interchangable from one to the other, are the stocks also interchangable?
